LETTER_BLOCK5Conference Call on HUSKY Changes Rescheduled
		

 

As we reported in our previous Covering Kids update, Governor Rell has
ordered the termination of managed care responsibilities for the four HUSKY
health plans, effective December 1, 2007.  The conference call that
Connecticut Voices for Children scheduled for this coming Friday, November
30th to discuss these changes has been rescheduled to next Wednesday,
December 5th at 3 P.M.

The call has been postponed because the Department of Social Services and
the managed care organizations are in negotiations this week over the
transition plan that will be put in place for the remainder of the state
fiscal year, which ends on June 30, 2008.  Next week, David Parrella,
Director of Medicaid Services for the Department, will have information
about how the changes will affect the HUSKY program.

To RSVP for this informational conference call, please send an e-mail to
Linda Deemy at ldeemy at ctkidslink.org <mailto:ldeemy at ctkidslink.org> .  We
will notify those who RSVP about the conference call number prior to the
call.

In the meantime, the Department wants to assure the public and HUSKY
providers that the HUSKY program remains in effect. There is no change in
eligibility or services for members. Providers will continue to be able to
serve their patients and will be paid for their services.

We look forward to your participation on the call, which is generously
co-sponsored by the Connecticut Health Foundation.  We apologize for any
inconvenience the change in scheduling may have caused.

As a reminder, the next Covering Connecticut's Kids and Families meeting
will take place January 31, 2008, 8:30 a.m. to noon, at the Connecticut
Hospital Association in Wallingford, CT.  We will send out an invitation,
agenda, and directions in a future update.  The meeting will offer an
opportunity to learn more about the impact of the HUSKY managed care
